Internees were often arrested and detained without any notice or explanation to their families. Many waited days and weeks to learn of the whereabouts of their loved ones. Although many heard through word of mouth that their family members had been arrested, and a few had opportunities to see their loved ones at detainment centres throughout the country, this postcard was often the first official notice received by families.
Rev. Libero Sauro was arrested on September 7, 1940 and held at Don Jail before being transferred to Petawawa Internment Camp.
